In this project, we have two related subprojects:

Subproject #1
Aims at developing a cloud storage prototype for private environments that aims to enable data sharing with high performance and dependability. The storage prototype shall consider data protection in eventual failures, without using RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technologies. Open-source solutions are being used for the prototype development, mainly the Sheepdog distributed storage system, which will be evaluated considering performance and dependability aspects.

Subproject #2
This project aims to assess the performance of conventional file systems (XFS, EXT4, BTRFS, and NTFS) considering real operational scenarios. These file systems are stressed to speed up the failures and performance degradation relating workloads and configurations of the systems. Monitoring mechanisms and measuring strategies are also aims of the project.
